No one wants to grow up

So my little Honey will be 3 months old in just a couple of days, it's going so fast and it also means more growing up mentally that she has to do. She doesn't want to learn to be a big horse yet but for her safety and mine she has to be well mannered... She's not impressed at this point with having feet done all the time, being wormed and learning to tie up. I snapped a few pictures of her new experience, being tied, she was less than pleased but I'm proud to say she took it all in stride and was a good little girl. :)

It's just part of being a baby horse and whether she likes it or not she's learning very fast and turning into a wonderful horse :)

A horse of many colors

My little girl is growing up SO fast and quickly changing colors from light palomino to a dark rich golden chocolate, still months away from knowing exactly what she'll turn out to be but it's looking more and more likely that my baby will be a beautiful chocolate palomino :)

She will be 3 months old on sept 5th which is crazy!!! But even better she's growing so week she's almost 1-2 months if growth ahead of her actual age, meaning ill really have to watch her diet and exercise program BUT she won't be that much smaller than her competitors the next show season!

So honey leads pretty well is learning to square up ( for shows) picks up all feet with little complaint, learning to be tied and has taken to face, ear and body clipping in small sessions, now it's all about finesse. Every training session she learns and makes progress but she is still a baby and thinks that working should not be anything she's associated with yet ;)

Here are some pictures from her development and color change, a few are older to show how drastically the change has been in just a couple short months.

Another month passes so fast

So after a trip to Las Vegas I return to continue training and spending as much time as possible with my Honey!

At almost two months old time has just flown and she's growing at such an incredible rate! And just check out how much she's shedding out :)

Honey halters easily and is so easy to catch its not even funny as she comes straight to you, she can now be lead around in the arena without her mother, hot rod, with minimal effort or encouragement from the "butt-rope". She's picks up all four feet without much trouble and holds them like a lady to be cleaned. Also she was introduced to clippers and did not care at all, they were rubbed all over her little body and her nose was trimmed for experience, as a show horse she'll be facing clippers almost daily, best she not fear them. she lives fly spray and any other spray is no problem.  She had a tarp placed on her back and rubbed over her with no trouble at all! Ropes all over her including the girth area, this little baby will be so easy to break its hilarious!

Baby training is the MOST important part and creates the foundation they will carry to adulthood, this is the easiest part to either ruin a horse or make a respectful easy going partner for life :) she may be spoiled but will be easy to handle for life, plus what fun is a baby if not a little spoiled ;)

Another week ends

As we prepare for our vacation I've been trying to spend as much time as possible with Honey, to love on her, scratch her and begin her training more formally so that she is a polite and easy to handle horse. She now will pick up all four feet without much fuss, and is leading with very little "butt" pressure, with only very mild little baby horse tantrums in between. I'm very proud of her progress and just fall more in love with this filly every single day, she makes my sad days into wonderful days, which I certainly need more of!

Shades if amber

Today I played with little miss Honey and gave her another leading lesson, which she was not happy about :)
She did good though and was rewarded with love and scratches!

After her training session she and I took some pictures together and I snapped some of her and Hot Rod, with this cooler weather it was wonderful to be out with my kids!

What a difference a month makes

Now that my princess Honey is just over a month old I find that every visit with her results in inches gained that little filly is a weed, her teeth have come in nicely and she is beginning to she'd the baby fuzz. Too soon for me, why do they grow so quickly?

So here are some pictures ranging from birth to last week, notice the subtle changes, just leaves one to wonder how amazing her complete transformation will be!
